Legal firms, prioritising data security and remote working

Legal firms have often led the way in protecting themselves from cyber attacks, and rightly so considering the delicate nature of their client’s data. That, coupled with the need to hold client money on account, can often make legal firms a fruitful target for attackers and as vulnerabilities continue to evolve we thought it may help to understand how legal firms are currently most vulnerable:

  • exposure of website addresses being spoofed and used to send spam and phishing emails
  • use of services such as email servers, webservers with well known vulnerabilities
  • the continued use of software that is out of date and no longer supported by developer

Amidst covid, these vulnerabilities have been extended further, with the increase of remote working, information security and management have quite rightly found their way onto the agenda as a priority as firms across the country make sure allowing employee access from home hasn’t inadvertently left them exposed.
